Classic board games continue to be very popular. With around 1000 new releases at „Spiel“, the world’s biggest board games trade fair, even experts have a hard time keeping up. Around 150,000 visitors add to the fun.
The fair is an international mecca for games fans all over the world. Many of them come from as far away as the USA, Asia or Australia. They’re all part of one big community. It’s great to get new games for a collection, especially from Germany. Playing games together is what connects all the fair’s visitors.
This is why the Spielegilde Association are hosts for international visitors to the games fair. Guests are invited to a get-together which has enough space for making contacts and playing games. Publishers and game designers are invited too, so visitors can get to talk and maybe play a few rounds with them. So essentially what you get on the WarmUp Day is playing, playing, playing.. make friends and inevitable get known to more games to play!
This year we also host a BoardGameCamp at the WarmUp Day. This is a is a dedicated BarCamp (Unconference) for Boardgaming. It's about game design, publishing or simply collecting and playing board games. You can join in by proposing a topic to the audience and create a session. Here are some ideas what you can propose for example:
Discussing strategies for a certain game
Give a presentation how you build DIY boards, bits & pieces or special versions of a game
I WANT BE PART OF THE BOARDGAMECAMP!
Just so you know – you can’t sell or buy anything at the WarmUp Day. You have to do that at the games fair.
The venue warmly welcome players from all over the world and provides extra space for gaming during the complete fair time.
